Some misery and how much it impacts function is not of our choosing. That many push on is a choice albeit one that can take lots of energy away from the rest.
You raise an important point, Joan. Often the cause of misery is outside of our control. You can't turn off long Covid because your are tired of misery. It is possible to nobly endure terrible misery. The problem is when people believe that the misery itself is noble.
