My parents are amazing. When I was a preteen I became obsessed with drums. My parents bought me a kit for Christmas. Then when I discovered that owning drums is not the same thing knowing how to play the drums and decided I no longer obsessed with drums, my parents got me lessons and forced me practice for one hour every day. They are good people with a high tolerance for suffering. I learned to play drums. I played drums with the bands in two churches, the one in Tucson, Arizona where I grew up and became a youth pastor and one in Conwy, Wales which I helped start with some friends (upcoming story alert!).

Travelling the world isnβt cheap, and stuff canβt replace experiences, so I sold my Mustang. It paid for trips to Russia and Venezuela in 1992. I never regretted selling it, but I have missed it now and again. Itβs my favourite of all the cars I have owned, including a black Audi 80 that was impossible to unstick from the road no matter what and so spent most of its time in my ownership going around corners very fast, and an immaculate metallic blue 1987 two door BMW 3 series. Fun stuff, but just stuff.
I watched Editorsβ Glastonbury set yesterday. Their cover of Killer by Adamski/Seal is an stunning dark interpretation.
Iβd love to take up drumming again. I also want to buy some woods and a meadow and keep bees and tiny deer. Iβd like to become a lawyer. Owning a Porsche 911 is on my bucket list. Right now, Iβm too busy learning British Sign Language and turning FFOREST into some kind of publishing company.
You probably canβt do all the things you dream of, but try to make sure you are always doing some of the things.

I don't always take the time to comment Jeff, but every day I find something familiar in your posts that either resonates with me or indicates that our lives have run in parallel at times - or might in the future. I worked with Adamski's (Adam's) aunt for many years. She was an illustrator when I worked as a Technical Author at Plessey Radar.
Yesterday, like you becoming the Youth Pastor because your dad was the pastor, I became a Guide Leader at 18 because my mum was the District Commissioner and it was easier for her to recruit me than someone else! And like you, I am no longer involved with Girl Guiding; I didn't like the way we were forced to do training we were unlikely to need.
Your parents are amazing. So are you. Weβre extra ordinary people. Blessed and highly favored, fo shoποΈ
