You are not an expert on geopolitics, Russia or Ukraine. You’re an account manager in Shrewsbury. Who you are is good. Stick to being you.1
Only teeny tiny percentage of people on TV and the internet are experts on geopolitics, Russia or Ukraine. The opinions of the vast majority are perfect for ignoring.
Broadcast and social media has made this The Hunger Games turned real. Here’s a question to consider: Am I behaving like the audience in the capitol?
If you are participating in Ukraine social media, please don’t repost anything you can’t verify.
Are you helping yourself or anyone else by drinking from the firehose of real life horror?
Remember Mr Rogers’ advice: Look for the helpers.
If you want to be one of the helpers and have money, there are expert organisations that can use it to make the humanitarian crisis less awful.
If you want to be one of the helpers and don’t have money, keep yourself mentally and physically healthy. Keep doing the important work you already do. Keep your eyes open for opportunities to give your time and skills.
If you want being you to mean something else, that’s fantastic. Put in the time and energy to make it happen for real.
I like thought 3. While the catastrophe is on my mind I'm trying not to be sucked in to the media machine. Russia are losing lives, Russia will soon be suffering in all manner of ways and Putin does not think he is the bad guy. The media doesn't tell us that USA have set up 4 biochemical labs in Ukraine breaking their promise of Ukraine being neutral.
Saying that, I am still 100% being Ukraine just not believing everything I am spoon-fed by the news
