I hear you, Jeff. I’m uncomfortable telling another the truth when I know it’s not what they want to hear. But I have a trick. I say it in a calm gentle voice. Then I know I used honey with the medicine. If there’s time to prepare I run through the opening sentence, point , and summary. It keeps my emotions level and I know I was clear and kind, but direct. Their response is on them. It’s a little toolset that has given me confidence to follow through while my knees are knocking. Soldier on!
