🧚♀️ TREE 362: You need people
The boring ol’ materialist’s guide to manifesting, part 9 of 10
One.
For materialists, no powerful being or kindly universe is putting everything together and handing it to you in a tidy package. And since you don’t have that much power, you are going to need some help to get what you want. That help will come from people.
A lot of the help you need will come from people close to you. But you may be surprised at how much of it comes from semi-acquaintances and complete strangers.
So
ask for help.
Give help.1
Here’s what happens when you ask and someone says yes (or vice versa). They have something you don’t have. You have something they don’t have. Together those somethings make a new thing that never existed before.2 The results of asking are helpful often enough to make it worth the effort. Sometimes the results are stunning. Every once or twice in a lifetime, you end up with crazy Beatles-level synergy.
So
keep asking.
Keep giving.
Note: One of the best things to ask people to share is expertise. When a person is an expert at something, they usually love talking about it to interested people. Most people aren’t interested, so most experts are starving for opportunities to share. You can get a very expensive education for the delicious price of being genuinely interested.

This song is my theology of death. (You’ve seen Amanda Palmer’s TED talk about asking, right? If not, please fix that today.)
We grow together.

You don’t have to wait to be asked. No one asked me to do TREE.
Welcome to the vaguest sex ed lesson ever.
As I take time to respond here, I am minutes away from rolling out in my rv for another journey. Asking people for help hasn’t been the way I lived in the past. But when your car goes up in flames, you get help. When your rig and towbar do a zigzag and you wind up in a ditch, you get help. On the road people need help. Remember to help those on the road with trouble. I am now in need of others’ assists and I ask now. That’s been a great lesson for me. And now, I am off to Gold Canyon. Gpcwomn over and out and 10-4, good buddy!
Long day but a great day. Broke down by an Auto Zone. Bought a big new battery (the 3rd) and arrived in Gold Canyon. I’m grateful and hungry!
