Sara Miles wrote a wonderful book about giving away groceries in San Francisco called Take This Bread. The thing that has stayed with me in the decade or so since I read it is her statement that everyone has something to teach me. Iβve tried to make it one of the guiding principles of my life.
Iβm not perfect at it. I struggle the most with learning from everyone when crazy-rich people give advice about contentment or adversity. Itβs like, βOh wow, your anecdote about your silent retreat with the Starfish Nuns of the Upper Clouds in Kuala Lumpur opening your being to the fact that adversity is a gift be be cherished is sooo relatable. I now feel 950% better about struggling to find the money to fix my broke-ass car.β
The messenger flavours the message.
The skill that I am still very much in the process of developing is the ability to receive the nourishment of truth even when it has a funky flavour. Everyone really does have something to teach me. When Iβm not open to learning. It doesnβt hurt them. It hurts me.
This is entirely delightful!
My car is fine by the way.

P.S. Remember to say thank you by buying my book for every single person whoβs ever taught you something.
Life forms are vast and are our teachers as we are theirs. Fish, birds, human doings, I mean beingsπ€amass our earth. I practice soul gazing. I make eye contact and look within the life forms. The interactions are what employ me and teach me. I only see the life that connects us and feel it. Life is a great Game. Handle with careπͺ·. Btw, great date!
What I am learning, is to feel the energy in everything, even inanimate objects. Even rocks πͺ¨ cry outπHealy makes good products for this in health care.πͺ·
