I enjoyed that so much, Melissa! You found a niche’ that is a very specific field of interest to help others. Very creative. I took law 3 years and contemplated becoming a Judge. My applause to you is being able to work in that system. While it’s so important, I didn’t have the tough skin required in the day to day. Hearing your heart makes me feel so good to believe there’s so many others, like yourself, finding a way in the systems to help others. I’m on Medicaid now so what you shared is impactful on me and so many. Vision and dental are still out of pocket expense which isn’t sensible to me. No chiropractic care either or massage. I am healthy and rarely need my insurance but it is paid nonetheless. It is what it is. Hope that gives you one more senior’s input. You’re such a beautiful spirit!

Your “soft” skin for the day to day could have been a breath of fresh air in this field Denelle. I had much interest of going into law after graduating with my Philosophy degree, but life took the reigns and gave me a little family instead. There’s still time, so maybe one day.

It is so refreshing to see work being done for the good of the people. Melissa’s work is so incredibly necessary, and interesting to boot!

Thank you. I used my soft skin in a counselor’s haven, woman pastor. Still needed thick skin, lol but it helped me heal along the way, too. I needed healing of childhood so I got help while helping others. It’s what was a great way to use the listening and understanding skills I developed in law school with love and mercy.

Thank you Denelle for your kind words. I am blessed to live in a state that recognizes the deprioritizing of public health in the last decade or two has negatively impacted other areas in society and having the courage to turn the ship around. We are starting to look at other culturally specific treatments such as acupuncture and youth behavioral health. It's a slow process but fighting the good fight is never easy. Wishing you good health!
