Thanks so much for this, Skyler! I'm totally flattered that you wanted to talk to me, and I had great fun answering your thoughtful questions (at least a few of which helped me get clearer about some things, so thanks for that, too).
Sarah, so many significant book review columns and even entire newspaper section, have been lost. Though it was an even rarer one that paid any attention to books for young people! Those that are left are often utterly back-logged with material to be reviewed. I've had books published that are not adequately reviewed... and people end up not knowing they exist! Your work is so important, connecting readers with words.
Thanks for sharing the "how" behind much of what you do - and for sharing it honestly and for all to see. So often people deflect and say, "I'm not sure, it all works out!" and that leaves at least me more mystified. It's structure, boundaries, habit, and yes, innate talent in your you-ness that leads to how wonderful Can we read? is.
Love the organic and shapeless feel of the 5-year-plan. Wherever the words take us.
Also: Harriet the Spy. I read this so many times the pages fell out and began journaling in composition notebooks. Harriet was one of the OG influencers.

Book hoarders unite! 💪
So glad to have you! Thank you for making my job fun and easy. ❤️
I so enjoy Sarah's newsletter. As someone who write for young people, I DOUBLY appreciate!
As a person that reads to kid(s). I appreciate you both 🤗
Thank you for all you do!
You're the best, Alison ❤️

I hadn't even realized that, Alison -- good point. Glad I can (try to) fill that niche a little bit!
A magical book! Yes! 💛

I am not, never have been, and never will be a "I'm not sure, it all works out!" person, as you well know by now 😂
Even when it comes to what you want to eat? 😂
Nope 😄
