📣 April announcements 2

Today is the second of three Fridays of big announcements. We have one big one for this week. First, here’s a recap.

Last week, we told you that

• FIELD GUIDE is going on a reduced publishing schedule so we can replenish the stock of stories in the pipeline. You are interesting. We want to hear from you. You can comment or reply to this email to nominate yourself or someone else to be featured in FIELD GUIDE.

• The TREE archives are going away this weekend in preparation for the creation and release of some products based on TREE content.

Today’s big announcement

Jeff:

I sent an email in early February to the 172 most active FFOREST subscribers asking for a person to join the team to develop the business side of FFOREST. The person who answered that email was my youngest sister (by 21 years) Jecelyn Shenkin.

Jecelyn likes to develop businesses like I like to do weird drawings. So I’m very excited to have her on boards. Most of the stuff she’s doing right now is way behind the scenes. In the coming months you will see some of her work in the form of a new fforest.co website.

For a proper FFOREST introduction, Jecelyn will be writing Monday’s TREE. For now here’s her short and snappy autobiography:

I’m a business owner who runs a small marketing agency for small to medium sized businesses and I’m also a photographer.

I live in the Dominican Republic 5 minutes from the beach. We moved here to slow down, for me and the kids to learn Spanish, and to be close to the ocean. We were very nomadic before coming here - we lived in an RV for a year and traveled a ton before that. When we arrived here in 2021, we fell in love with the area and surprised ourselves by buying a house and putting down roots. Our youngest was born here.

I’m married, and I have an almost 4 year-old and a 1 year-old. They are all more bilingual than I am, but I’m working on it.

I’m passionate about business and especially about breaking women business owners out of the patriarchal mindsets they were handed that keep them broke and exhausted.

I love to go to the beach, paddle board, play board games and read fantasy novels. I also like coffee way too much.
