This week author, teacher and master learner Alison Acheson is writing about continuing to learn throughout life. She’s choosing the music too. I’m doing the illustrations and notes at the end. —Jeff
Your hammock time was exactly what you needed! It is those times of inventory of life events that often squeeze out a product of creativity. Bravo’! I will read something of yours next. I loved the song as I played accordion and love it’s sound. What are you working on now other than Tree? You have me curious!
Your illustrator for Little House in a Big Place is fantastic. And she lives just around the corner from me! Well, several corners through mountains. She’s about two hours away.
Wow... that's cool. I would love to meet Valeriane. I am so grateful for her work with my story. Picturebook creating is collaborative--so different from the other forms of writing.
Though this week--with you adding images!--has something of that feeling to it :)

Denelle! Thank you for the read. I hope you still play the accordion :) My most recently published books are a memoir of caregiving (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/43975907-dance-me-to-the-end), and yes, there is some levity to it, and some odd sorta poetry pieces to create white space on the page! And a picturebook (https://picklemethis.com/2019/05/17/a-little-house-in-a-big-place-by-alison-acheson-and-valeriane-leblond/).
At the moment, I am mostly focused on my Unschool for Writers newsletter as well as a novel for adults, now in third (100th+) draft
You are so right about taking inventory and squeezing! Well said! Do have a marvelous week.

Jeff, I should add that she creates the most beautiful calendars every year, if one is looking for a unique gift... available through her site.

Fun fact: on TREE, every connection – with about two exceptions – between the writing and the illustrations is a post hoc event.
I like that, yes! It creates this inner THING--a bit of struggle with trying to connect, and consciously thinking "let it be!"
Thanks for your hookups!
