One.
Two.
Let’s finish this week of reflection with a look at the future. I have some questions for you – not about plans and goals and visions. Those aren’t my speciality. My questions are about what you are doing now to set yourself up for the future you want. Focus on the one(s) that fit your life now. Don’t worry about the others.
Does the way you use your time help you become the person you want to be?
If not, what specific use of your time can you change now? What is the next thing you want to learn?
How will you learn it?
What is your start date? How is your body doing?
Are you eating, exercising and sleeping for long-term health? Are you doing the next right thing or are you putting it off?
Three.
Endings and beginning are more often intertwined that tidy separate things.
Some notices
Next week, TREE is a five-day throwback. I’m going to share the Christmas series I wrote last year.
Also next week, Skyler and I, along with my friend Denelle, will be running a conversation experiment. If you’ve ever wanted to talk with folks about your thoughts connected to TREE, get ready to jump into the comment section on Monday.
There will be no emails the week between Christmas and New Year.
On Saturday 7 January I will reveal the name and publishing schedule of Skyler’s new FOREST publication. The excitement is palpable at FOREST HQ! (Because Skyler and I live on different continents, FOREST HQ is an imagined location, perhaps a small meadow in the middle of the FOREST. In spring it is filled with wildflowers and baby rabbits. In the middle of the meadow is a mysterious1 standing stone. Every evening at sunset a wise old raven sits on the stone and tells ancient stories to the trees. The raven is named Jen Thompson.)
Happy weekend
Jeff
The standing stone was erected by druid revivalists in 1936. The reason it’s mysterious is standing on the stone is the only place in the whole FOREST where you can get a mobile signal. It’s only two bars of 3G, but still.
The thing I want to learn next is how to listen without interrupting. I started last night by formulating this mantra: When someone starts talking, listen until they are done.
I’m going to remember this next time while trying to get a signal!
