I am blessed with an outstanding vet. Before she bought the practice my vet was my friend. He was also outstanding, but being friends gave me a tiny peek into his world. It's pretty intense sometimes and has many restrictions on what you can say to the pet owners. Thank you for taking care of our pets!

Woah, crazy stat about the suicide rate!

I've spoken with a few human-centric healthcare professionals (nurses and paramedics etc) over the years and they often have some form of counselling or therapy access built into their roles, so they can speak to someone before things get too much.

No such provision for our dedicated, compassionate veterinarians though!

Firstly, i do like the name change.

Secondly, this was a brilliant look into a vetā€™s life. I have had the same country vet 35 years. I have observed her and learned so much. She is holistic in her approach and my many many animals have thrived with good simple food to herbs to heal and rarely, antibiotics. Valley Fever is an offender in the dust in the desert and together, sheā€™s navigated 2 dogs successfully through the hard parts. Sheā€™s also seem me through to their Rainbow Bridges. Sheā€™s let me choose how to manage them in a trusting and respectful manner. My vet has taught me this lifelong learning that is a vetā€™s oath. Hats šŸŽ© off to you. I couldnā€™t do what you do, especially soft tissue surgery, ewwwww. In admiration and a prayer, D
