You know the saying: Genius Is one percent inspiration, 99 percent perspiration.
Here’s a fun wrinkle: you don’t have to start with the inspiration.
If I waited for inspiration to start working, I wouldn’t have a job. TREE posts would come once or twice a week at most. I wouldn’t have half the ideas that I get. And the rare occasions when I make something that’s a little bit genius would be a lot rarer.
Professionals start whether they are inspired or not. That’s why they get more inspiration. For a professional, the signal to start creative work comes from their schedule, not from being zapped by inspiration.
(While being zapped by inspiration is also a good time to start work, or at least make some notes for later.)
