Grow incredibly slowly (Update: we’re finishing off around 570 subscribers.)
You might get the idea that I am unambitious.
I think what’s happening is that I am learning to be unhurried.
I’m in this writing game for the long haul. So I need to work sustainably. I need to have fun as I go. I want to bring people along who are with me because they like this journey.
What I’ve done and am doing with FFOREST and the book I published in 2023 feels different than anything I’ve done before. It’s out of step with the constant mad scramble of capitalism, but…
It’s not aimless because I have ideas about where I’m going.
It’s not a hobby because I treat my writing like a job. There’s a chance it will even make money at some point.
The best way I can think to describe it positively is unhurried.
Is there any part of your life where you feel the freedom to be unhurried?

Thank you Jeff and Skylar for all the work you've put into tending and growing FFOREST. It has been one of very few consistently great things in my life over the past several years—I wish the entire internet felt like FFOREST!
Now that this chapter is over, I hope you both take some dedicated time to feel proud and celebrate everything you've done with it and to appreciate all the growth that it provided you and so many others.
I will greatly miss it, but am excited to see where you go next.
It's been such a pleasure coming along for the past few years - a reliable message waiting every morning in my inbox. Thank you for inspirations, the reminders, the care, and the love you've given this little corner of the world. Cheers to what (slowly) comes next!
