Monday
We have the capacity to recognise that the universe and specific expressions of life in it are wondrous. We can look all around us and see goodness. One reason reason we don’t see it much of the time is there are layers between us and the ground. The layers can be literal concrete – sterile built environments that separate us from animals, plants, soil and fresh air. The layers can be other things too:
Food which is so processed that it hasn’t resembled its natural form for months or years
Policies and systems that reduce people to cogs in a machine
Stories, propaganda and media formats that dehumanise the humans you disagree with
Pastimes that deaden creativity

I wonder how different the world would be now if we hadn’t embraced the ancient Greek idea of the division of spirit and stuff, if we hadn’t become so anti-matter. Would people feel more like they are their bodies and less like minds wearing meat suits?
Wednesday
Western culture embeds the idea of separation into every part of life. But you are the universe. Once you get to the ultimate level, whether you call it the universe or God or something else, is that you can’t be removed. You can be recycled or, if you believe in an eternal soul, you can go on living eternally while you body is recycled. Either way, you are made of the same stuff, physical and maybe spiritual, as the universe, and your existence is entirely within the universe.

I don’t lie about what I’ve experienced. You probably don’t either. I think very few people do. But when humans learn about something that is too far outside their own experience, they struggle to believe it.
Try to believe people the way you would like to be believed.
Last week I was looking for the title of a famous song. The clue was: Hugh Jackman, Daniel Day Lewis – which?
Here’s how to get there:
HUgh jackMAN
Daniel Day Lewis has received a knighthood giving him the title Sir. Sir Daniel. Dan Sir, if you will
Which is it, Hu man or Dan Sir?
Human by The Killers
This week I’m after the name of a German truck. The clue is:
… I am an island
Answers in the comments, please.
This is 20 minutes long, but it’s the weekend. You’ve got time. It’s worth your time.
Happy weekend!

I am in the midst of a move to a close location, less rent. Last night I got up in the dark and turned on the bathroom light. Immediately, I spy a cockroach on the sink. Haven't had trouble with them here. I get the 'ick' as it spies me. Eye to eye, I say, "it's okay, buddie, just go home." I felt that bug's spirit of life. It's the breath or ruach spirit of God within each lifeform.🪷
That last one was such a stretch 😂 I went through all the “songs with ‘or’ in the title” and the closest I came up with was “With or Without Hugh” but it had over a billion streams. Meanwhile thanks for this week’s softball Mercedes Aroc.
