Want to feel better in 30 seconds flat?
Here’s a quote I came across the other day that made me say, Oh, damn.
‘Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.’ —Epicurus
He’s got a point, right?
Me from two years ago would marvel that I have a consistent sleep schedule. Me from 6 months ago would love that I’m enjoying my new job. Me from fifteen minutes ago would be chuffed that I sat down to write this email instead of taking a chocolate hobnob break.
And yet I always seem to be chasing the next thing, the next box to tick.
There will always be ‘more’ out there. An elusive ‘more’ to make the things we have seem scarce and meagre. And yet, the things that we view as a given were once things we would’ve given our right arms for.
What you focus on sets your direction. So, if you always focus on what you lack, you’ll only ever feel deprived.
Do yourself a favour and take a minute to think of three things you have, that your past self didn’t.
You can change your mood, and indeed your reality, just by switching your focus.
[whispers] Oh, damn.
Cofindence Man’s SO WHAT: If Born Slippy had a baby with the songs of the original Barney the dinosaur – an objectively awful idea, I know, but here we are and you’re about to tap the play button.
Perspective is everything. Much of life is measured by it. I know one thing for sure...I can change my mood. I have the governor in my control. Thinking about ice cream right about now!🍦
