This week we’ve five excerpts from Benjamin Shenkin’s book Meditation 31: Gratitude, featuring photographs by his wife (and my sister) Jecelyn. Ben is a coach who helps people unleash their confidence and creativity. If you’d like to own a repeatable gratitude meditation for every day of the month at a 10% discount, use the code TREE when you buy Ben’s book.
Ben and Jecelyn, thank you so much for helping us notice how much we have to be grateful for.
Happy weekend!

What moment or experience comes to mind when you think about a beautiful ending? Maybe it was a graduation, or a funeral of an elderly person who was suffering from cancer, or even your child’s first steps. (That would be the end of you being able to put them on the ground, and find them there where you left them, when you return – ha!) What was special about that ending?
As a great synod of philosophers once wrote, ‘Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.’ (Semisonic, ‘Closing Time’, 1998) Express your gratitude right now for the close of another month, another day, another epoch of your life, and also the beginning of a new one.
Bonus! Extra gratitude resources.
I’m in a singleness phase of life. I’m embracing it. Just colored eggs for this week’s hb’s. Why not? It took 5 extra minutes to have joy come in the steps it took. And, I will enjoy the colors all week in the frig!
