I am not the story I tell myself. I am what I do.
If your story and what you do are the same, you’re golden.
If they are different, it’s time to decide. Will you
change your story,
change what you do
or
turn your story into a more elaborate lie?
For when you’re in the mood for something Tracy Chapmanish but with a splash of pop to ward off the depression.
It may be typical to see today’s idea from the perspective of ‘I tell myself I’m a good person, but look at the bad things I do.’ And that’s useful. It may be more useful to notice the stories you tell yourself about being defective and compare them to all the ways your actions prove you aren’t. It’s easier to move towards a good thing than it is to move away from a bad thing.

Moving towards a good thing takes work. It’s a daily practice. I feel most authentic doing yoga. I enjoy when I teach yoga but even that has an underlying “am I good enough” element to it.
