Here’s an experiment.
Bring to mind your beliefs about the nature of life and the universe. Are they the product of random chance, created by God or something else? Think of what you believe about death – gateway to eternal life, reunion with lost loved ones, start of the next round, dissolution into oneness, the end of it all? Notice what you believe about gods, angels, demons, spirits, higher beings.
Now, for a few minutes, believe the opposite.
Try and really truly believe the opposite of what you normally believe about the nature of life, the universe and everything – not forever, just for while.
I’m guessing you can’t. I’ll bet best you can do is pretend and pretending feels uncomfortable.
Around the world, other FFOREST folk are reading this email and also failing to flip their beliefs for a few minutes. Except they are doing it in the opposite direction.
There are smart, compassionate, deep-thinking, loving, kind people who fully believe things about the nature of existence that are impossible for you to believe.
What are you going to to with that knowledge?
Yesterday, I listened to St Vincent’s self-titled album for the first time in a long time. I had forgotten what a brilliant piece of art it is.
Grow slowly

I have a friend that has had an experience of an alien spacecraft using his mind briefly. I believe him. But I haven’t had it happen to me. So believing and experiencing keep you in a gulf. I have experienced the Creator in my way. So I am not Doubting Thomas anymore. That’s just me.
