What does a nematode named Henry Stork who dines at the Savoy on alternate Thursdays have to do with your current project?
If you are making something and you get stuck, try answering that question. Or any other similarly random and ridiculous question. There’s a strong chance it will show you some new ideas and get you unstuck. If it doesn’t get you unstuck, at least you’ll be distracted by something amusing for while.
This is a photo of me, the author of Burrito Van on Selsley Common, pretending to read Burrito Van on Selsley Common ON SELSLEY COMMON. I’m sitting in the exact spot where Bernice Winterhaven Radiator XIV’s burrito van would have been parked had the story ‘Burrito Van on Selsley Common’ been a work of reportage rather than fiction. Two questions:
Is my right thigh really that skinny? I don’t think so.
If you have purchased and read my book Burrito Van on Selsley Common, could you please leave a review on Amazon? If you loved it, please say so. If you hated it, please say so. If you felt a big ol’ meh, punch the three stars and tell us why. Thank you!
Speaking of Henry Stork, do you keep a file with name ideas in it? I do. I never use the names in the file because names pop into my head whenever I need them. The files is the names that pop into my head when I don’t need them. I was about to tell you the best name in my names file because it suits the weather in the UK this week. But I like it too much and I’m not ready to part with it yet, so here’s another name that’s pretty good too:
Loquatia Flotsquall
I read FFOREST and all the other Substack newsletters I subscribe to on the Substack app. It’s a nicer experience than having them mixed in with all my email.
Another good reason to get the app is Notes. It’s social media-ish, but nice. I use Notes to post thoughts, links, jokes, pictures and music recommendations. I’ve discovered some interesting people since I’ve been on Notes.
If you want to declog your email inbox a bit or you can’t get enough of me or you want to be more adventurous with your reading choices, give it a try:
Happy weekend!
Jeff
Looking forward to reading a new book....yours!
