Welcome to to TREE Year Three! Thereโs a bit of housekeeping at the end.
Elizabeth Gilbert is not into following passion. She prefers to follow her curiosity.
I like that.
Iโve never been one of those vision people who clearly know what they should do and where they should go. The only vision statement I have is my glasses prescription.
Iโm not always passionate about something.
Iโve never not been curious though.
Curiosity has taken me around the world. It has introduced me to wonderful people, music and food. It has helped overcome the crippling shyness I was born with. It got me my current job. (I work in employer branding. A few months ago I didnโt even know such a thing as employer branding existed.) FFOREST began with me wondering if there was a better way to start my day.
Donโt know what to do?
Follow your curiosity.
Not feeling passionate about anything?
Follow your curiosity.
(If you are afraid of what might happen when you follow your curiosity, remember: you are not a cat.)
Heinrik always follows his curiosity but never discovers anything.
Curiosity led me to this amazing podcast which led me to Jamaica in 1981. (Spotify)
Hello, FFOREST Friends.
I asked you three questions at the end of last year.
I asked about the length of posts. Most folks werenโt bothered if the posts went longer than my 250 word limit. I appreciate that a lot. But 18% of respondents said, Letโs tighten things up. I agree with the minority on this one. Part of what makes TREE work as a daily email is that itโs short. The limit helps me cut out the waffle. Iโm going to do my best to work within the limitations while knowing that if something absolutely needs to go longer, 82% of you wonโt be upset.
I asked about outbound links vs staying focussed on the text of the post. You overwhelmingly like links. Links will continue to show up where I think they will be useful.
I asked about switching from Spotify to YouTube for the songs. Most of you like that idea, but I was surprised to find that 28% of respondents wanted to stick with Spotify. Thatโs a sizeable minority. So what Iโm going to do for now is what I did today. The main song link will be YouTube and I will include a text link to Spotify.
On the subject of music, those of you who care noticed that I stopped updating the Year Two playlist on Spotify. It was one too many things for me to do. Iโm not even going to try it for Year Three. I would be entirely happy if someone wanted to pick that task up. If that someone is you, reply or comment and I will share the link with everyone.
Letโs grow slowly together!
Jeff
Yay! TREE is back.
