One.
Fortunately, the fox is just as old.
Two.
They hate what what you hold dear.
They want to destroy your way of life.
They are evil.
We are at war.
You must make a choice.
When someone is dividing the world into Us and Them, it doesn’t matter if you are Us or Them. If you are being divided, you are being conquered.
This world and the people who fill it are full of variety and beauty and nuance. It’s bubbling with colour. Choosing to go along with people and causes that flatten life into black and white binaries is to deprive yourself of other meaningful choices. It denies every life, including your own, the richness of its existence. It’s a small world that only gets smaller.
When you see Us and Them used to generate fear, look for the person doing the power grab. Because that’s what it’s about.
Then look for the colour. That’s where reality is.
Three.
I don’t know what this song is about. I like it a lot.
On Monday I wrote about consuming in order to fuel your creativity. I hope that TREE is creativity fuel for you. With that in mind, here are all the ways you can consume it:
Email – I think this is the best way to read it. (If you reply to a TREE email, it goes straight to me.)
The FOREST is TREE’s online home. It’s the best place to make comments.
Social media – TREE is automatically posted to Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn by a software robot.
Instagram – follow for TREE previews and bits of the world I find interesting.
Something for the weekend
If you want to make better choices, a Daniel Kahneman rabbit hole is not a bad place to be. Here’s a nice, easy way in. Pay special attention to the thing about sunk costs.
Happy weekend!
Jeff
Wise words Jeff!
