When my parents were kids, one good working-class job provided a good standard of living for a whole family.

When I was a kid, a daily dose of inspiration like TREE would have been technically, logistically and financially impossible.

A few years ago, I wouldn’t have dreamed that a million people would watch my daughter dressed up as He-Man lip-syncing to a cover of 4 Non Blondes’ What’s Up. But they have.

Don’t judge today’s behaviour by the standard of yesterday’s possibilities.

A good thing about CHVRCHES is they have an all caps name with a unique spelling. Another is Lauren Mayberry who is a person, not a thing. She’s good at making songs about issues without being annoying. She has released a solo album and I like it a lot.
