Fear is often nebulous.
Dread is a fog.
It can make you feel that everything is wrong.
When you name the specific thing that is wrong,
you immediately have power.
You can name all the other things that aren’t wrong.
You can grasp the size of the problem.
You can research.
You can plan.
You can take action.
It starts with naming.
Handy hint: if you can’t immediately name the cause of the fear fog, you can start with naming the things it isn’t. Name the things that are going well. Soon you will be able to name the bad feeling too.
Big beat, fuzzy vocals – perfect.
On Boxing Day 2024, I went to Selsley Common and took photos in the fog. I printed them on a tiny thermal printer and scanned the prints. As I composed and coloured the scans I discovered an invincible summer in the midst of winter. Here is the finished piece:
I’ve reduced a stack of gorgeous papers to three finalists. I’ll show them to you tomorrow so you and the rest of the FFOREST choose which one Invincible Summer gets printed on.
Happy Tuesday
Jeff
Amazing advice! I want to share this with everyone. <3
I began to name my emotions on a chalkboard full of words describing feelings. It was difficult at the time. I was sad but began to learn the reasons why. Feelings are indicators not navigators. They are the fruit not the root.
