Anger is powerful. It burns explosively. It propels you into action.
It is an excellent response to injustice and evil.
It gets you off your backside and into the fight.
But change takes time
and anger burns out.
Or burns you out.
You need something else to fuel you
when you are trying to right a wrong
or create good art
or live a life.
That something else is joy. Joy has the energy for long, hard work.
How do you fuel yourself with joy?
I wish I knew a direct answer to that. I know that joy shows up when I choose gratitude, curiosity, possibility, kindness and empathy. I’m more likely to have it if I’m staying off social media, not watching too much news, sleeping enough, eating well, exercising, spending time outdoors and listening to good music.
Speaking of good music, here’s Heartworms’ latest single.
Happy Monday
Jeff
I grew up with anger but chose a better way when I had my daughters. They brought joy to me and that has remained. Joy is said to come in the morning. I rise and try to catch it sitting on my bed. It’s a great way to start any day!
