Everyone is unique. That is true. That is important. That should be celebrated. But it has a dark side. We’re good at zooming in on little differences, magnifying them until it’s all we see – dividing and dividing and dividing again. That person who is so different from you? Their fingertips are covered in parallel curving lines like yours, and, just like you, they use their fingertips to hold the toilet paper and wipe the poo off their bum.

Remember to zoom out until you can see that there’s only one big team called Earth. Until Elon Musk starts whisking people off to Mars, it’s the only team going. It’s essential to celebrate our sameness.

Spotify kept dropping Kaeto songs into my listening and eventually I paid attention. Her debut album is not your run-of-the-mill pop record. It’s got some lovely moments in it. Here’s the opening track.
