On Tuesday last week, I told you there were five of these posts about being and employee. It seems I can’t count. There are only four. Here’s the final one.
Exercise that makes you stronger and faster hurts. Growth is painful because you are pushing out your boundaries to create new capacity.
As a designer, I feel a responsibility to take clients just beyond where they are comfortable. It is important for my designs to push out their visual boundaries. I introduce a little discomfort so that they can grow. It’s what they pay me for.
The trick is to only push when they are ready to move and then not go too far.
You have your job because you are good at what you do. Don’t be afraid to push the boundaries in your work. You may make things a little uncomfortable. That’s okay. It’s the pain of growth. That’s what a healthy company wants from you.
