Two silly things from me – the first from 2015, the second from Thursday – followed by a very serious and beautiful song from The Last Dinner Party.
It happened while we were walking in the park. The Kings of Leon saw her first. I was distracted by William Shakespeare’s nonstop likening of things unto things. He was wondering aloud if he should compare trees to Ann Summers today when a cry from the Kings of Leon welded our attention to the unlikeliest of horrors.
‘Girl!’ the Kings of Leon shouted as they ran to her aid, ‘Your sex is on fire!’
One threw his Evian bottle to her. Thinking the fire could perhaps be extinguished from the inside, he advised, ‘Drink the water!’
‘It’s where you came from!’ called another, helpfully reminding the woman of the fire’s location.
But it was too late. The flames spread down and up and engulfed her entire body with heat so intense the Kings of Leon’s heroic efforts were halted prematurely. In no more than a minute she was reduced to a charred skeleton.
I stared, mute. The Kings Of Leon fell to the ground weeping in despair. Shakespeare was unable to locate a metaphor. He shook his head and muttered, ‘Fatal loins.’
Happy weekend
