‘You can do anything you want, but you can’t do everything you want’ —Dan Gill
This is one of my favourite things that my dad says.
Once you realise and accept that you can’t do everything you want, it frees you up to choose something and then fully invest yourself in your choice.
The alternative is to try and keep all your options open and end up doing nothing.
Familiar is nice for the holidays.
Over the next two weeks I’ll be celebrating a family member’s birthday, the winter solstice, Christmas and New Year's Eve. I hope you will be having some lovely celebrations at just the right level of celebrating for you
Until 6 January 2025,
Jeff
Happy Christmas and holidays! Each morning your words of wisdom bring me encouragement, joy and even a little smirky smile. I agree with what you said about not being able to do everything. I really don’t like it during college speeches when people say you can be anything you want to be and do anything you want to do, but I guess you’re right that the keyword is anything versus everything.
Merry Christmas to you and yours. Love your Dad's saying.
