You know those times when you are in an unfamiliar situation and you find yourself doing things you don’t normally do? A common one is when you are visit another country and somehow become braver and more outgoing than you are back home.
Pay attention to those times.
15 years ago, I went to my local college – shoutout to Llandrillo – and earned a degree in culinary arts. I discovered that while I was in college I felt much freer than I did anywhere else outside my home. I was more open to having my ideas challenged and more honest about what I believed. I liked college me. My fellow students seemed to like college me.
I wanted all the other mes to be more like college me. It took some time and some courage to let the college me be more visible outside college. I had to change some external things in my life too. 15 years on, the me you’ll meet is a lot more like the me I discovered when I went college.
The next time you find yourself thinking, I’m not normally like this, pay attention. You might be trying to tell yourself something.
