One.
I was weeding my elder neighbour’s roses this week. They are planted so close together that I come out of the flowerbed covered in scratches and scrapes. She planted them so close together because when they are just little shoots it seems like you are giving them so much room to grow, plenty of room to weed and feed them.
But roses need so much room to grow.
Have you given your creativity room to grow?
My mind is always alive with ideas and inspiration. I love the science behind art. I get fascinated by a subject and dive down the rabbit hole with the enthusiasm of a Jack Russel terrier. Sounds wonderful, right? The problem is that I’m overcrowding my creative garden. Some of my ideas and designs can’t flourish because I’ve crowded them in there so close together, they don’t have space in my time or my mind. We can’t creatively do everything, everywhere, all at once. Learning to be present in a concept or design takes planning. I write my new ideas down to explore later, when I have space. I have a schedule. I say no to things.
