Two examples from popworld:
Billie Eilish grew up singing and homeschooled in a ridiculously musical showbiz family. She got her 10,000 hours in early.
When she was 15, Dua Lipa moved without her family from Kosovo to London so she could pursue a career in pop music.
Overnight success always comes with a long backstory full of really hard work.
Except when it doesn’t. There’s always an exception somewhere.
But if you want to achieve success,
your odds are a million times better
if you bet on smart hard work
than if you sit around hoping
you’re the exception.
Keep going. Overnight success takes years.
This week I’m thinking about work, doing work you love, and success.
Grow slowly.

Every song from every email:
In my opinion, Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia was the best album of 2020. So her profile in Rolling Stone was especially interesting to me. But I love any story of someone working hard at their craft. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/dua-lipa-future-nostalgia-cover-story-1113124/
How many years do you think Jeff? Asking for a friend...
