I met Jess Lea-Wilson when she was a young teenager. She grew up and became a design client. Now she is a designer, artist and writer that I truly admire and see way less of than I would like to. Jess is providing the posts for three Fridays in August. They start here and continue on her blog. Please click through. Her writing is warm and sink-into-able – perfect for a Friday morning. (FIELD GUIDE will be back in September.)
Today’s image is of Ynys Llanddwyn is also by Jess. I chose the song.
Grow slowly

One of my friend’s first child is off to university in the next few months. We’ve been discussing choices … where to go, what to study, and how difficult it can be to plan in your late teens.
It has made me realise that a lot of the time in my life, I have wanted (and often continue to want) a direction, a path, a course that is signposted and clear. Wanting to have control is a very human trait. It comes from the fact that I am terrified of waking up one day and feeling like I wasted my life.
…
[But] a plan that is followed too tightly binds you, constricts you, and holds you back. What a horrible thought, that you might be so busy pursuing something, so focussed on something you don’t have, that you miss what’s right before you, be it a person, a place, a turning, or an experience…

One of my coworkers (Shoutout to Amulya!) shared a playlist of Bengali dance music with me. The groove on this one is so right for a Friday.
