This throwback seemed like a good way to finish off reality week. Reality doesnβt just happen to us. We participate in it. Imagining something different and better is the first step to improving the real world we live in.
One.

I bought a new mechanical pencil 18 months ago. The is the package it came in said, βCREATE YOUR IMAGINATIONβ. My first thought was, Surely those wacky kids at Pentel meant βCreate what you imagineβ.
My next thought was, We DO create our imaginations.
We imagine by projecting from our existing knowledge and experiences. It just happens. But if you want your imagination to be different than it is, you can do it consciously.
Here are five things that I know work to change your imagination:
Improve and diversify your inputs
Study the work of very imaginative people
Do new creative things, even if you arenβt very good at them
Write your dreams down when you first wake up,
In your mind, mash things together that are completely unrelated β accounting and science fiction, tea ceremonies and sea turtle migrations, etc. β and see what happens.
Three.
Iβve listened to and glimpsed a bunch of Glastonbury 2022 sets while working this week. My easy favourite so far is Jessie Wareβs. She put on a perfect show. Have you got any Glasto recommendations?
