This week, music producer Steven Lee Tracy has been writing the posts and choosing the songs. I drew the drawings. Thank you so much, Steven, for your insights on (maybe) making money doing the thing you love. —Jeff
One.
A reminder of a few things…
You can absolutely be creative, and/or an artist if:
You have an unrelated day job
You have less time for your craft than you’d like because you’re a parent
You used to do it for a job, but you chose an unrelated job for financial stability
You aren’t good at it (yet?), but it brings you pleasure
You will never be good at it, but it brings you pleasure
You used to do it for a job, and self care meant turning it back into a hobby
You have no interest in making money from it
You desperately want to make money from it
There is no one way. We’re all just trying to figure it out and make sense of it in a pretty chaotic world – and maybe bring some beauty into it too.
Two.
You rarely see a reverse centaur because 1) they look ridiculous in workout clothing and 2) Face ID doesn’t work for them. I can’t think of other reasons.
Three.
For today’s song I chose T.Rex’s “20th Century Boy” because it rips, slaps, jams, shreds, and all of the other descriptors.
Tomorrow, the perfect topic for FIELD GUIDE: survival. —Jeff
I am taking away “jobby” from your sharing about it. Thanks for explaining life in a jobby hobby way🌹💚
