One.
Following last week’s logo update and the renaming of FIELD GUIDE, here’s a post about what FOREST is and where we’re headed.
I think social media and the news are the worst ways to start a day. Also, the first thing I do in the morning is pick up my phone. I started TREE because I wanted picking up my phone to contribute to my flourishing as a human being.
I’m not some superguru. I’m just a graphic designer and former pastor with a lot of curiosity and life experience. You probably have a lot of curiosity and life experience too. I believe people like you and me have a lot to offer. I want FOREST to be a gathering place and a platform for ordinary folks with things to share. That’s why I have guest authors and why Skyler and I started FIELD GUIDE.
FOREST is a place for every human who wants to grow and flourish in a way that helps other humans grow and flourish
Where we are headed
TREE and FIELD GUIDE will always be free. They are a gift. At some point this year, you will be able to participate in giving the gift by supporting FOREST with a subscription. But only if you want to and are able. If you don’t, you will lose nothing. A gift is a gift.
I have a bunch of writing I want to do for people who have experienced major change in their spirituality. I want to explore living a deeply meaningful life when you are a post-[whatever it is that you aren’t anymore]. This will be part of the subscription.
Skyler and I want to give everyday amazing folks like you more access to other everyday amazing folks. Some of this will be free. Some will be paid.
We’re figuring it out as we go using these guiding principles:
Grow slowly because it’s faster.
You have something valuable to contribute and we are here to make space for it.
Two.
This is from a book I wrote about getting ideas. It’s called Getting Ideas. You can get the digital version for free here.
Three.
Kilo Kish has a new album. This is cause for celebration. She makes the kind of music you need to listen to a few times before you know what it is.
Grow slowly

I’m subscribing!
I take my time to look at the phone, Tree in particular. I read and think about it while getting coffee. I read it again and hear Jeff. Then I enjoy the drawing and usually giggle. I hit play and listen to the songs which stretch my listening venues. And then I do another ritual, another cup of jo. I’m growing slowly. How about you?
