One.
It is the glory of God to conceal a matter;
to search out a matter is the glory of kings.
Proverbs 25:2, NIV
The universe is a glorious place to live because it is made of mysteries. The more mysteries we solve the more mysteries we find. It’s mysteries all the way down. Except there is no all the way down, not one we’ll ever reach.
Humans are a glorious species because we ask why. We never stop trying to figure things out.
I include all of us in “kings”. In the ancient world, only kings and the people they patronised would have access to the resources and knowledge needed to seek out a the answer to mystery. Today, we have easy access to more resources and knowledge than ancient monarchs could imagine.
Some people say we need to sit down. We need to keep quiet and be content with not knowing the answers. Those people don’t know what they’re talking about.
The thing that makes you shine is that you are trying to figure things out. Keep asking the questions and looking for the answers, you glorious king!

Let Denise put some great words in your mouth.
Thanks for thinking about some sacred texts with me this week. Tomorrow’s Feynmansplaining introduces us to a jewellery maker in St Lucia. I love what he did when he got fired.

Why? leads us to birth mysteries. I was asking why? yesterday and this was the result…
Gold Canyon
On the road again is this traveler’s hymn
Layovers stayovers get me yearning
To get campside and get a fire burning
Somewhere new with good weather
Where us birds fly to untether
New things to see new people to meet
New places to go and new food to eat
We put out the lounge when all’s to our liking
Then we kayak or Razor or maybe some hiking
We’re gypsies on the go
Loving our phones to stay in the know
Often there’s no internet
But to us, that is no sweat
It just means more time to be quiet and still
And listen for the whippoorwill
