One.
Today at 5:30 PM I will turn off my work computer. Even though next week will be horrendously busy, I will not think about my graphic design job until just before 9 AM Monday. Especially because next week will be horrendously busy, I will not think about my graphic design job.
I finished this week’s TREE Thursday night. I will not think about it again until Saturday morning when I start planning next week’s TREE (except for one little bit of communication because there is special stuff going on behind the scenes).
Why will I be doing all that not thinking?
In the mid-2000s I was a prosperous self-employed graphic designer. I was also worried that if I ever said no the next job might not come along and I would be out of business and unable to provide for my family. I worked all the time. I was a few sleepless nights away from total burnout when an employment opportunity came along. I grabbed it like a fire extinguisher. After that, I decided I would never habitually work without rest again.
When I am rested and refreshed I am smarter, faster, more creative and marginally more pleasant to be around.
It’s the weekend. Just stop. You can go again soon.
(Your stopping time doesn’t have to be the weekend, as long as it exists and gives your life a steady rhythm of work and rest.)
Two.
After a busy week of devouring tourists, Jessica loves nothing more than a weekend of laid-back digestion.
Three.
Grooving verrrrry smoothly into the weekend
Something for the weekend
I read an entirely wonderful graphic novel last week:
Happy stopping
