I created my Twitter account 13 years and six days ago. I wonder how many miles I’ve scrolled since then?
It’s been less the past couple years. I’m making an active effort to read or look at things of significance in my free moments instead of scrolly-scrolling. What I’ve learned is that it’s possible to consume mindlessly no matter how worthy the content is.
I have closed my phone and two minutes later had no recollection of what I just read. (You’re smirking about my old age. Stop it.) To combat my mindlessness I started asking myself a question when I finish reading: What did I learn? Then I make myself answer the question. It helps.
There’s no point to curiosity if your discoveries slip away.
What did you learn?
While I wrote today’s post I realised it would do me good to ask this same question whenever I look at an image or piece of design: What did I learn?
Growing slowly along with you
