That was definitely a sizzlepop sound,
thought Alice.
She put down her phone,
got up from her couch and walked
out of her mouth.
She turned around. She looked at her head.
My head is on fire,
thought Alice.
Should my head be on fire?
That doesn’t seem normal.
The green flames seem especially
not normal. My head
is on green fire.
Alice stepped up a few feet
and looked into her eyes.
The rabbits still played
happily in the nursery,
even though
they were
on green fire too.
Maybe it’s because they eat grass,
thought Alice.
Alice flew up.
She felt a little nauseous
looking down
at her sizzlepopping green fiery self
from such a height.
The flames weren’t hot.
Which is lucky,
thought Alice,
but it’s less normal –
not hot fire,
unless green fire isn’t
supposed to be hot?
A trapdoor opened
from the top of flying Alice’s head.
Alice climbed out and stood
among her hair. Hmm,
thought Alice,
I wasn’t certain about
my spiky hairstyle but now
that I’m standing in it,
I think it works.
Alice sat in her ear and thought
in a whisper, Is it normal
to actually think
the word ‘Hmm’
to yourself?
Consciousness is kind of a trip.
Happy Thursday!
Jeff
