Did you know that pigeons can recognise themselves in the mirror?
So, if you pop a sticky dot somewhere on their body and then pop them in front of a mirror they will go, ‘Oh no! How did that get there!?’ and peck at the dot on themselves rather than on the reflection.
Apparently this is a sign of intelligence so if I am feeling a bit low in confidence, a bit thick, I can look in the mirror and go, ‘hey, that’s me!’ and feel that I at least have that.
Over the years we pick up and put on other people’s stuff – the things that we wear and the way we do our hair and deeper down into the things that we believe and the way we act. It can take work to stop and ponder and take off the things that we feel don’t fit or maybe never did. Sometimes there are so many layers of other people’s stuff that it can take years to get back to the you that you recognise. But it is so rewarding to see the little kid you emerge – ‘Ah, there I am!’
What no longer fits? Maybe today is the day that that you can remove one thing from your life that is not you.
This week’s guest author and photographer is Christine Gill. We are married to each other. For extra fun, I will be choosing the music and Christine will be adding the comments. We like a lot of different music.
Grow like a pigeon.

Jeff is choosing the music for my writings this week. Today he has chosen this jolly Glee-pop version of Rock Me Amadeus. I will have to return the favour soon. Thanks, Jeff.
